With Europe, the Chinese publisher and developer Tencent is currently working on a new battle royale shooter that appears to be intended only for China.
Tencent is arguably the most successful gaming company in the world. Revenue in the third quarter of 2017 was around $9.8 billion. A number that even major publishers like Electronic Arts and Ubisoft can only dream of. Tencent operates in Asia and provides a large number of gamers there with new games.
Recently, it became known that Tencent is taking over the distribution of the battle royale shooter PUBG in China. However, this is not the only battle royale game that the company is launching.
Battle Royale only for China?
Europe is an upcoming online action game that Tencent will offer via Steam – but only in Chinese. Why Steam then? Because Valve’s platform is becoming increasingly popular in Asia. The number of users from China is increasing month by month. Support for other languages is not currently planned.

100 players, open world, diving
Currently, not much is known about Europe. The shooter takes place on a large island where up to 100 players can fight – even underwater. Diving is also addressed in the screenshots as well as in the gameplay trailer.
Tencent explains that Europe uses the in-house Quicksilver X Engine, which allows for detailed graphics. Survival elements are present, as well as action-packed shooter battles. You will use various vehicles, including boats, to move quickly across the game area.
Tencent aims to establish Europe in the e-sports sector and refers to the game as a “next generation e-sports” title. Alongside PUBG and two upcoming mobile games, Europe is thus the fourth battle royale game that Tencent distributes. More details about the shooter are expected to follow soon.
