The Division Update 1.6 and Last Stand
The long-awaited Update 1.6 from February 28, 2017, brings numerous important innovations to Massive’s online shooter The Division. This includes exotic weapons and armor, changes to submachine guns, legendary difficulty levels for missions, and new areas in the Dark Zone. Those with a season pass or who pay can also play the DLC “Last Stand/Last Fight”. Patch 1.6, on the other hand, is free for everyone.
More PvP with Last Stand
The Division offers many PvE content options, but if you want to experience PvP, you have to go to the Dark Zone. There is now a new game mode called Last Stand. In this mode, brave agents play against treacherous traitors. But don’t worry, you are always the good guys; the system always designates the enemy team as the “bad guys,” without affecting your stats.
In Last Stand, you capture terminals in zones on a large map, and only after capturing three of them does the capture counter for the zone commence. In addition to enemy players, aggressive and quickly respawning NPCs roam the streets, causing you trouble.
Besides your weapons, you can earn special resources in the game and use them to bring in more war equipment, including automated turrets. As a reward, you receive containers with valuable items, including two exclusive skins and sets of cosmetic items.
Lost Signal – The Best Incursion So Far
In addition to the PvP mode, there is a new incursion called Lost Signal from the Last Stand DLC. This is explicitly not a raid, but it does share many raid parallels with its boss fights and overall structure. According to testers on the PTS, it is even said to be the best incursion in the game so far.
In Lost Signal, the escaped convicts from the Rikers have taken over a broadcasting station and are holding hostages there. These will be executed if you make mistakes or take too long during the boss fights and scenarios.
Patch 1.6 – Many Changes
If you don’t get the Last Stand DLC, you can still have fun, as the free Patch 1.6 brings a lot of innovations:
- Three new Dark Zone areas that together double the size of the DZ
- Leaderboards for the Dark Zone
- Legendary difficulty in missions Times Square, WarrenGate Power Plant, and the Napalm Production Facility
- Named weapons and armor become exotic and gain special talents
- Submachine guns regain the bonus on critical hit chance
- Microtransactions via in-game shop will be introduced, offering cosmetic items for purchase.
