What would a pirate game be without a proper sea shanty? In the upcoming online game Sea of Thieves, you can make music yourself.
In a new video, the developers talk about the music system in Sea of Thieves. If you see a musical instrument, grab it and play it. There will be many different instruments available, so you can gather with friends and form a pirate band. Everyone then plays their instrument, and a common song will sound.
Play your own songs
The developers explain that during testing of the game, testers accompanied various situations with their own music. It would be a fantastic experience, for example, if a ship approaches and you can hear music coming from afar. This would get louder as the ship sails past your vessel.
Or players play eerie music while exploring an island at night. This would create a completely different atmosphere. Of course, music also accompanies every drinking spree and every party.
Not an MMO, meetings with players are special
Sea of Thieves is an online multiplayer game where you should always feel like you are experiencing something special. You won’t be surrounded by thousands of players. Instead, a meeting with other players should always be a special event. The aim is to create as immersive a gaming experience as possible, and to avoid unnecessary UI elements, such as too many windows, bars, numbers, and so on. For instance, if you see an object, you simply interact with it directly in the world.
Sea of Thieves will launch in February 2017 for Windows 10 PCs and Xbox One, with a beta planned for this year, which you can register for on the official website.
