Mother wonders how her 16-year-old son can afford an expensive laptop – Is surprised by the answer

A mother posted on Twitter that a laptop recently arrived that neither she nor her husband had ordered. Her 16-year-old son had purchased the device. The money came from trading gaming skins.

Uju Anya published a series of posts on Twitter describing the events surrounding her 16-year-old son’s new laptop.

A laptop was delivered in her son’s name. Since Uju Anya knew that no one else in the family had ordered it, she confronted the boy and wanted to know where he got 1,000 dollars. The answer: with the help of skins from video games.

The mother seems surprised that gaming skins can bring in so much money

Uju Anya further explained what was going on in her mind: As a mother, she initially panicked because she didn’t know where the large sum of money came from. She feared the worst, like drugs or fraud.

Instead, the money came from trading gaming skins. Her son had shown Uju Anya the data for his items, which he had purchased a year ago with pocket money and later sold for three times that price.

The mother seems impressed by her son’s achievement and surprised that there is such a large market for gaming skins, an industry that, according to Yahoo Finance, is estimated to be worth around 50 billion dollars (as of November 28, 2022), as she posted.

The next day, Uju Anya thanked Twitter users for affirming her 16-year-old’s entrepreneurial spirit. In the meantime, the mother has given her son some money so he can learn more about the business world and investments.
