In Counter-Strike 2, much revolves around the skins that can fetch six-figure sums. The German Twitch streamer “ohnePixel” is considered a god of the skin scene, but he could hardly believe it when he examined a viewer’s skin.
Who is he? ohnePixel is one of the largest German streamers on Twitch. His English streams were peaked by over 45,000 viewers at the same time recently (Source: sullygnome). However, ohnePixel is not a pro eSports player in Counter-Strike 2.
Instead, the streamer primarily focuses on the skins in the game. He opens loot boxes, sometimes worth thousands of euros at once, collects the rarest skins, or plays with other well-known figures in the scene.
Although he owns some of the most expensive skins and is accustomed to a lot with his own skin market, he was shocked recently by a viewer’s skin.

Why was he shocked? As usual in the stream, the streamer let viewers show their skins. One was particularly proud of his AK skin. Because it is a “Blue Gem”, a skin that features a large blue area by mere luck.
Additionally, the skin boasts four of the extremely expensive “Titan Katowice 2014” stickers. One of these stickers now costs over €70,000, according to csgoskins.gg. The streamer was shocked by what he saw.
In the video clip, he initially cannot believe that the player has such an expensive skin. He checks live in the viewer’s Steam inventory whether the skin actually belongs to him. But the viewer is indeed the owner of the AK skin, which the streamer ohnePixel estimates to be worth over €100,000.

Why are skins so expensive? Counter-Strike 2 and its predecessor Counter-Strike: Global Offensive have shaped an entire business model through the trade in weapon skins. The weapon skins are often extremely rare and are often only available through loot boxes for real money.
Skins like the AK skin in this example are rare not only by themselves but also because the texture is not applied the same way every time. Thus, the “same” skin can look completely different, depending on how much luck one had.
Opening the boxes to obtain the skins can also become expensive, as the boxes containing a random skin may also become rarer over time. There are sticker boxes that are only available at the time of a major tournament and then are no longer obtainable.
