The Twitch streamer Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris has been criticized in the past for his driving behavior, and now he says what he definitely would not do while driving.
MontanaBlack likes to drive fast: In the past, MontanaBlack has made several statements about his own driving behavior, many of which have been received negatively. One of them was, for example, that he finds it normal to drive 20 km/h faster than allowed.
His justification: That is just the speed limit that one can allow oneself if one does not want to get a driving ban. For this statement, MontanaBlack received considerable backlash. Especially regarding his role model status, the spread of this mindset is highly questionable.
“I definitely won’t do that”
Where does MontanaBlack draw the line? Live during a Twitch stream (clip on Instagram), MontanaBlack is driving on the highway. Next to him appears a car whose occupants film him and apparently urge him to speed up. MontanaBlack responds: “I definitely won’t do that.” He further explains that he would not do this either on or off stream.
Shortly after, MontanaBlack justifies his decision not to do it:
If civil police are behind you and see you making a little acceleration race with someone – bam – illegal street race on the spot, driving license gone. I would never do that! That’s not a joke to me.
The Twitch streamer further states that while he likes to drive fast where it is permitted, he does not want to “give it full throttle” with someone. His driver’s license is so important to MontanaBlack that he would never do that.
MontanaBlack receives praise: The comments include many who appreciate MontanaBlack’s good statement. The account of SIXT, a transfer service, for example, writes on Instagram: “That’s what we have racetracks for – Good message.”
MontanaBlack does not mention that maybe not endangering human lives should be at least as important, if not more so, at least not in the clip on Instagram. Some comments criticized this, such as timboehmert saying, “Good attitude, but safety should come first and not the driving license.”
