In Oberhausen, the Pokémon are currently having a blast. Hordes of Icognito, Kangama, and other rare monsters from Pokémon GO are besieging the city. The new Icognito form a special event theme.
Today, the Safari Zone in Oberhausen started, offering trainers on-site masses of rare Pokémon. Not only in the shopping center but also in the larger surrounding area of the city, trainers can encounter Kangama and others. As Centro writes on Facebook, rare Pokémon are also expected to be found in Duisburg, Dinslaken, Bottrop, and parts of Mülheim.
Unlike the last Safari event, the Icognito are not forming the letters E-U-R-O-P but rather “Safari”.
Safari Zone in Oberhausen on 16.9.2017
The Safari Zone event in Oberhausen has finally started today, which trainers have been looking forward to for a long time. Trainers with tickets for the event receive trainer kits with wristbands, a map, a QR code, and a paper Pikachu hat.
Additionally, there is a stylish in-game medal for trainers who visit the event in Oberhausen, Paris, or Barcelona with a ticket. A Reddit user named SmokerKing92 posted a screenshot of it:
But not only trainers with tickets can experience something in Oberhausen. As the official Pokémon GO account confirms on Facebook, you can expect rare monsters outside of the event as well. The following monsters are confirmed:
- Chaneira
- Kangama
- Larvitar
A look at the GOMap shows that the developers are not overpromising. Hordes of monsters are just waiting to be caught:
Besides Icognito and Kangama, you also see many Voltilamm appearing in the “wild” of Oberhausen. Trainers also report an increased presence of starter Pokémon.
Special Icognito form “Safari”
A few weeks ago, a similar event took place in Europe. Many rare monsters like Kangama and Icognito appeared in many German cities. During the Europe event, the Icognito formed the word “Europe”.
In today’s Safari events in Barcelona, Paris, and Oberhausen, Icognito with the letters S,A,F,R,I can be found, ultimately forming the term “Safari”. Initially, it was thought that the Icognito would stand for “Safari Zone”, but these reports turned out to be false.
