In Monster Hunter World the fourth seasonal event, the Winter Star Festival, is now running. During this time, players can complete all previous event quests and earn new rewards. For these reasons, a visit is worthwhile.
What is the Winter Festival? The Winter Festival is a seasonal event in Monster Hunter World, where there is plenty to do. In addition to some new ones, all previously released event quests will be available. During the festival period, the gathering hub is decorated in a winter style, and NPCs wear different outfits at times.
When does the Winter Festival run? The festival starts today, November 30th, and will be active until December 17th at 23:59. This time it kicks off simultaneously on all platforms, with PC players starting together with Xbox One and PS4 for the first time. Previously, this was not the case, as the PC version was released several months later.
No update needs to be installed, as the Winter Festival was already included in the last update.
What is special about the Winter Event?
- Daily limited bounty quests: You can earn a 200 point armor sphere daily.
- Winter Star Tickets for daily logins: You need these tickets to craft the event armors. You can also get them from the daily limited bounty quests.
- Two Super Lucky Tickets, which give you more loot.
- You will get discounts everywhere. Ideal for stocking up on all desired items.
- One of the best greatswords in Monster Hunter World will be available again during the festival.
- The gathering hub ship, the Skybreaker, is decorated for winter.
- There is a special background for your guild card.
With the Orion set, there is also new armor that can be colored appropriately for Christmas.

What do I need to craft the armor? To craft the armor, you need Winter Tickets. So you must complete the daily bounty quests. In terms of stats, it is not one of the best armors in Monster Hunter World.
Your companion won’t miss out: There is also new armor for your Palico. This makes your companion look like a snowman.
New Hammer, but only for Consoles
This new weapon is unfortunately only available for PS4 and Xbox One: To get the new hammer, you first need to collect certain tickets. You get these by completing a new event quest that is currently only available on consoles.
This is the hammer “Bristly Pincushion”, which means spiky pincushion.
How to get the new hammer: Complete the new quest “Forest Edge Quarrel”. This is a rank 4 quest where you have to take down two Anjanath. Once you have done that, you will receive special tickets as quest rewards, which can be used to craft the new weapon.
Unfortunately, the event weapon is not one of the strongest hammers in the game. With an upgrade, the hammer has the following stats:
- Rarity 7
- Attack: 1040
- Sharpness: Blue
- Affinity: 0
- Status Effect: 270 Poison, can be increased to max. 330.
New Decorative Armor
What decorative armor does the event bring? As with every seasonal festival, there are new decorative armor pieces that you can unlock. To do this, you must complete the new quest “A Royal Pain” and collect the corresponding tickets.
In this rank 7 quest, you need to hunt a Rathalos and a Rathian.
These decorative pieces are available: Players can finally wear the Wiggler Head with any set. This fun helmet can now be unlocked as decorative armor. Previously, the Wiggler Head was a reward from another event quest, but there it was a real armor piece.
The Dense Eyepatch can also be worn as decoration.
