In Monster Hunter World (PC, PS4, Xbox One), players take on the role of hunters on quests to slay dangerous monsters and collect resources like bones or claws. Capcom released a small quest tutorial that briefly explains how a quest is structured. Additionally, we get our first look at the village hub.
Capcom released a video featuring a small quest tutorial for Monster Hunter World. The video is aimed at players who are inexperienced in the Monster Hunter universe, as it fundamentally explains the process of a quest.
For veterans, it’s still worth taking a look at the quest tutorial. We get our first insight into the village hub. Here, players have a small house to rest and decorate, they can receive buffs from food in the kitchen, or have armor and weapons crafted by the blacksmith.
In the village, players also pick up quests from the “Handler”.

This is how quests are structured in Monster Hunter World
In Capcom’s video, it explains step by step how a quest is structured for hunters:
- Select Quest: To select a quest, hunters must visit the “Handler”. He has a large book filled with various missions. Here, they often find the first information about the monster to be hunted.
- Start Quest: At the start of each quest, the hunter may bring items that will help him during the hunt. These are stored in a box and can include items like healing potions or traps.
- The hunt begins: After the preparations are complete, the hunt begins. In Monster Hunter World, the hunter uses Scout Flies to track the trails of the monsters and find them. Once the monster is found, it’s time to take down the creature.
- Harvesting the monster: Once the monster is downed, hunters should completely harvest it. This means using a hunting knife to detach materials like claws, teeth, or meat from the animals. These can be used for crafting armor and weapons.
- Complete Quest: The quest is complete as soon as the monster is taken down. However, there are also quests where hunters need to gather certain materials to complete them. In this case, the task is only finished once the materials are collected. For completing the quest, there are loot and rewards.
- Forge new equipment: When hunters return to the village from the quest, they can take their new materials to the blacksmith to improve their equipment and receive upgrades for weapons and armor.
