In Monster Hunter World there are a number of optional quests that you can complete. Here is a list of the optional quests and where you can get them, as well as which items and rewards they unlock. 

Optional quests are side missions that you do not need to complete in order to progress in the story and reach the endgame. However, there are still benefits to completing optional quests, as you can earn Zenny and additional rewards.

You unlock optional quests through these actions:

• Find a monster – Low rank and high rank are separated
• Catch a monster – Low rank and high rank are separated
• Talk to residents – Characters with a yellow exclamation mark above their head have a quest
• Complete previous optional quests
• Random rare encounters – These appear randomly after a quest or investigation is completed. These quests can only be completed 2 times and then disappear. After that, they will reappear randomly. This includes leading the Zorah Magdaros.
• Have researched monsters to the maximum – All 4 levels are filled in the monster encyclopedia
• The current progress level for main quests

*Special arena – These quests are unlocked when a specific monster is caught for the first time. The arena quests appear randomly on the quest board and are distinguished into low rank and high rank.
