Capcom has announced a Monster Hunter: World Championship for the USA. The best teams will compete in speed kills and have the chance to win exclusive prizes.
While the Japanese Championship is in full swing, the Americans are still in the qualifiers, which will last until July 28.
The Fastest Wins
Pukei-Pukei in the preliminaries: To advance in the qualifiers, the teams comprised of two players each need to be among the top 4 fastest kills of Pukei-Pukei in a specific arena quest.
In the final round, the 4 teams will face a special version of Nergigante and must defeat it as quickly as possible. This special quest will be invisible to other players and will only be available from July 28 to August 1.
The players will have access to the following weapons during the arena quest:
- Morphaxt
- Sword and Shield
- Light Bowgun
- Dual Blades
- Gunlance
At the same time, a Monster Hunter World event will take place in San Francisco, which will include signing sessions with the producer, an art gallery, and challenge booths.
There will also be a stream for the event.
Exclusive Prizes: The winners of the tournament will be able to take home exclusive prizes. These include a goodie bag with various Monster Hunter merchandise and extremely stylish MEMORIGIN tourbillon watches in MHW design:
Memorigin is a Chinese manufacturer known for its high-quality and expensive watches. The prices range from the upper five-figure to six-figure range.
Winners Fly to Japan
The winning team will receive a flight to Japan for the Tokyo Game Show in fall 2018 courtesy of Capcom. There, they will have the chance to represent the USA alongside teams from China, Taiwan, Korea, and, of course, Japan during an Invitational Exhibition Event.
It is still unknown whether players from Europe will also have a chance to participate in the TGS.
