In Japan, hunters can currently receive the exclusive USJ quest, which allows them to unlock the Azure Star armor in Monster Hunter World. There is also a way to obtain this quest in Germany, at least for the PS4.

What is it about? In Monster Hunter World, there are currently two special USJ quests offering exclusive equipment for the PlayStation 4. The Azure Star set consists of complete armor for the hunter, one for the Palico, and a longsword.
However, the hitch for us in Germany is that the special USJ quest is only available in Japan. The USJ event is divided into two parts, so you must complete both quests for the entire set.
Getting the exclusive USJ armor in Germany – Find a host
How do you find a host to obtain the USJ quests in Germany? A host is someone who possesses the quest and plays it publicly so that other hunters can join the quest.
Here are two ways to find a host:
1. Use the game’s filter function and search for the quest
In Monster Hunter World, there is a drop-in function that allows you to join another player’s ongoing quest at any time. You do not have to be friends with the other player. If a player possesses one of the USJ quests and sends out an SOS signal, you can drop in to join the quest and unlock the Azure Star Armor.
To make it easier to access the quest, it is advisable to set the filter function accordingly. Check the “Quest Preference” option for event quests. The system will then preferentially search for quests tied to events.
You increase your chances of finding the quest by narrowing down the search criteria as specifically as possible, including the difficulty or the monsters to be hunted. The quest details for the search will be presented in the following section.
2. Use social media – We found 2 hosts
There are some hunters who make themselves available almost daily to offer the USJ quest for other players. You can find these on social media platforms like Reddit, Facebook, or YouTube.
We have found two hosts for you who offer the USJ quest.
- On Facebook: Monster Hunter World USJ – Japan Quest Hosting – The Facebook page is in English, but the host speaks German as well. She has already provided us with information from Japan for this article. The 2nd event quest is offered almost daily here.
- On Reddit: Hosting USJ quest daily! – The user cometkid27 also offers the second part of the event quest daily. You can also participate in the first part of the event with cometkid27, although it is currently offered less frequently.
Most hosts set specific rules so that as many hunters as possible get their turn, and the schedules can be maintained. You should pay close attention to the rules, as breaking them may result in being kicked from the group. In the screenshot below, the hunters stand neatly in line with their Palicos, waiting for their turn.
Part 2 of the USJ Event: Blazing Azure Stars! – Sword Upgrade & Hunter Armor
What do you get from the 2nd part of the USJ event and how long does it last? Part 2 is called “USJ – Blazing Azure Stars!” The quest started on April 27 and will end on August 8. Here, you receive an upgrade to the Azure Star Blade (longsword), which was already available in the first event. Additionally, you’ll get the hunter armor “Azure Star Overlord Set-α“, which consists of several pieces.
If you successfully complete the quest “USJ – Blazing Azure Stars!”, you will receive the Azure Star Jewels as a reward. If you take these to the forge, you will be able to craft the parts.
- The longsword “Azure Star Dragon Dance” requires 2 x Azure Star Jewel
- The Azure Star Overlord Set requires 5 x Azure Star Jewel

Azure Star “Dragon Dance” – Statistics and Materials of the Longsword
Below you can see the longsword Azure Star “Dragon Dance”. This is an upgrade of the Azure Blade, which you receive in the first part of the event. The Azure Star Jewels can be obtained from the USJ quest itself.
You can only gain materials for the upgrade with the second quest. For the base weapon “Azure Star Blade” you need the Azure Star Shard as a special quest reward. This can only be obtained from the first part of the USJ event.
Azure Star Overlord Set – Statistics and Materials of the Hunter Armor
Here, you will find a slideshow of the individual pieces of armor from the “Azure Star Overlord-α Set”. To craft the armor, you need 5 x Azure Star Jewel, which is the special quest reward.

Part 1 of the USJ Event: A Special Treatment – Azure Star Palico Armor & Azure Blade
What do you get from the 1st part of the USJ event and how long does it last? Part 1 is called “USJ – A Special Treatment” and the quest will end on June 10. Here, you receive the longsword “Azure Blade”, for which you can get an upgrade with the 2nd quest. Additionally, there is the Azure Star Palico armor.
If you successfully complete the quest “USJ: Special Treatment”, you will receive the Azure Star Shard as a reward. If you take this to the forge, you will be able to craft the parts.
- The Palico armor requires 3 x Azure Star Shard
- The Azure Blade requires 3 x Azure Star Shard

- Difficulty: 3 Stars
- Conditions: HR 4 or higher

In total, you need 6 x Azure Star Shard for the parts of the first event to craft everything. Therefore, it is quite possible that you will have to find and complete the quest 6 times.

The USJ Quests are tied to the “Universal Studios Japan”
Why is the USJ quest only available in Japan? Currently, Capcom is running a promotional campaign for Monster Hunter World in collaboration with “Universal Studios Japan” (USJ). “Universal Studios Japan” is a theme park in Osaka, featuring attractions like the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and various roller coasters.
Part of the USJ theme park includes attractions that are only available for a limited time. This year, there is a photo attraction for Monster Hunter World until August 2018. Those who participated in this attraction receive a ticket with a code to unlock the quest for the Azure Star Armor.
