In Monster Hunter World, the crossover event with Resident Evil has begun. You can get some new armor and other rewards.
What is happening in MHW right now? The announced crossover event with the Resident Evil franchise has made its way to MHW. With the new event quest, you can obtain many different cool and spooky rewards:
- Armor sets of Leon and Claire, which completely change your appearance
- Three weapon charms in the Resident Evil style
- Two gestures: zombification and zombie bite from the butler.
- Furniture for your room, a typewriter, and an item box, after completing delivery requests for the butler
- Two new songs for the record player
- New poses, greetings, and titles for the guild card

How do I become a zombie? The event quest for the crossover is available normally at the board:
- Quest Name: RE: Return of the Bio Weapon
- Hunter Rank: Master Rank 20 or higher
- Time: 50 min
- Requirements: Kill a Velum-Vaal-Hazak
This quest plays out a bit differently than you’re used to, and it’s related to zombification. On the way to Velum-Vaal-Hazak, you will find different types of plants. There are green and red herbs. Collect them, as they will be useful in the upcoming battle.
The monster itself is the cause of the “zombie plague.” Its miasma attack can turn you into a zombie. This means that you can no longer dodge, heal, or use most items from your inventory. However, you can still attack.
The zombie state has its advantages:
- Your health will continuously regenerate while standing in miasma clouds
- The miasma from Vaal will deal almost no damage to you
- You have a kind of automatic defense mantle and earplugs.
Damage now mainly comes from Vaal’s physical attacks. The battle itself is not difficult.
The zombie state lasts only a few minutes, and to become a zombie outside the quest, you’ll need to pick up the two new emotes from the butler.
If you don’t want to stay a zombie, use the green herb to remove it. Alternatively, you can mix a potion from the green and red herbs that will also directly heal all your HP.
What can the new armors do? For completing the quest, you will receive S.T.A.R.S badges, which you need to forge the armors. Unfortunately, the stats, skills, and slots of the complete armor sets are not exactly impressive, but they will make your characters look like Leon and Claire.
The Leon Alpha set has in total:
- 7x Critical Boost
- 3x Attack Boost
- 2x Weakness Exploit
- 1x Shotgun/Power Shot
- Set bonus 2 pieces: Survivor 2 – Prevents zombie and miasma accumulation
- Set bonus 4 pieces: Survivor 4 – Increases the maximum level of the Critical Boost skill
The Claire Alpha set has in total:
- 7x Critical Boost
- 5x Invulnerability
- 3x Stamina Recovery
- 1x Standard Boost
- Set bonuses are the same as Leon’s
To forge both armor sets and all 3 charms, you need 15 badges from the quest.
