A modder believes that his map for GTA 6 looked too real. He had developed the mod for GTA 5 but had to remove all links to it.
Why did he have to remove the mod? As the modder Dark Space reports in a video, Take-Two, the publisher of GTA 6, filed a request for the removal of one of his videos. In the video, he presented his free GTA 5 mod, which was supposed to feature a playable map of GTA 6.
As he shows in a new YouTube video, he received a copyright strike from YouTube. A channel receives this strike when it violates someone else’s copyrights. With multiple strikes, the deletion of one’s own channel is threatened.
To keep his channel, Dark Space removed all links and videos related to his mod. He has a suspicion as to why it got that far.

What problem does Take-Two have with the mod? The modder created the map for GTA 6 based on leaked coordinates, official trailer snippets, and uploaded gameplay of the game. Dark Space therefore thinks that his map was probably “a bit too accurate.”
I think my map could have ruined the surprise of their map, which I understand. If you had spent years building this amazing game world, just for some YouTuber to spoil the experience of the shape, size, and mood of the map… I would also want it removed.
However, the past shows that Take-Two has already had mods removed that were made for GTA 5. In 2023, a fan had to remove his mod, which equipped NPCs with AI. He was upset about the lack of communication from Take-Two.
Other content, which had existed for 10 years, also had to be suddenly removed in 2021. Since 2019, there has been a rule that items from other games, including GTA 6, cannot be incorporated into GTA 5.
What’s next for the modder? He stated that he wants to continue making videos that make people happy. However, he does not want to mod anything in GTA 5 that could relate to GTA 6. That seems dangerous to him.
