Destiny 2 – Progress or stagnation
What people thought in 2016: They anticipated a timely release of Destiny 2 and had relatively little information otherwise. In the best case, they suspected an evolution, in the worst case, stagnation.
This is what really happened in 2017: Destiny 2 was released on time, and even later for PC, and had great success. However, Destiny 2 is significantly more accessible and “casual-oriented” than its predecessor. This has upset many fans of the first part. The long-term motivation in the endgame is lacking – Bungie wants to improve this.
Conclusion: Over the course of 2017, it gradually became clear that Destiny 2 would head more in the “casual” direction. However, how shallow the game became surprised many at the release. Although Destiny 2 impressed for the first 60-80 hours of gameplay, the atmosphere shifted, at least among the hardcore fans of the first part, about a month post-release. However, Activision provided positive numbers about the success of Destiny 2. Now it remains to see the further development. Bungie has hinted at a course correction.
