The highlights of the week:
- The 22-year-old EVE Online, often referred to as the “prettiest Excel spreadsheet” due to its complexity, is apparently making more money now than it has in a long time. The info comes from the latest financial report from Pearl Abyss and nosygamer.blogspot.com. Specifically, it is said that the sci-fi MMORPG had its best quarter in Korea since the acquisition in October 2018. Overall, EVE is said to be looking back at its highest quarterly earnings since 2016.

- The MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV announced a collaboration with Monster Hunter: Wilds at gamescom 2025. MeinMMO author Sophia Weiß is already very excited about the new content and all the newcomers. However, she also urgently warns.
- In an interview with videogameschronicle.com, FFXIV Director Naoki Yoshida explained that they are currently working on getting Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy XVI onto the Nintendo Switch 2. The discussions with Nintendo have been very positive so far, according to Yoshi-P.
- For Black Desert, this week one of the biggest content updates ever has been released, which concludes Story Act 1. Part 2 of the expansion is set to follow soon.
- The new update from Lost Ark is live and has exciting new features that make it worth checking out the MMORPG from Smilegate and Amazon Games again.

What happened in the minor MMORPGs:
- Update 7.7.1 has been released for SWTOR, featuring Galactic Season 9, improvements to group search, and an expansion of Free2Play experience. You can find the German patch notes at swtor.com.
- In recent months, it had already been apparent that something was happening with Rift. Suddenly, updates started to go live regularly. And now the MMORPG is even represented at gamescom 2025.
- With Catalyst, the first league for RuneScape is set to launch on September 15, offering a version of the MMORPG with faster progression. Old School RuneScape has had these leagues for over 5 years. You can see the trailer for the Catalyst League on YouTube.

- The developers of Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen presented “Black Rose Keep,” a new dungeon challenge where adventurers from levels 15 to 40 can find new challenges, secrets, and treasures. - Although Cozy-MMO Palia was the highlight in Enad Global 7’s new financial report, Lord of the Rings Online and DC Universe Online also showed positive trends. This is reportedly due to a supposed unauthorized copy titled “The Hero’s Journey,” against which a lawsuit is already in progress.
- Speaking of DC Universe Online: In the new Producer’s Letter, the developers announced they would further expand the allies system by the end of the month. - Ragnarok M: Classic is set to celebrate its global release on September 3. The developers emphasize that there will be no gacha or pay-to-win elements – Source: mmorpg.com.
- Pre-registration for the new MMORPG Legend of Ymir has started on legendofymir.com. The game utilizes the WEMIX cryptocurrency and is likely to attract only a niche audience in the West.
- The superhero MMORPG Ship of Heroes has slightly postponed its release to August 25, 2025. You can find details about the game on Steam.
- At the Opening Night Live of gamescom 2025, a new trailer for Honor of Kings: World was shown. The new MMORPG based on the MOBA Honor of Kings features snippets from a real boss fight that could also be played on-site. See for yourself:
