A video is currently making the rounds: Here are thousands of graphics cards carefully stacked on top of each other. Many believe: Miners are trying to sell their graphics cards before it’s too late. Gamers warn against buying such GPUs.
On reddit a short, 20-second video was posted: Here you can see hundreds of graphics cards carefully stacked on the floor.
Some explain that these must be graphics cards from miners: Because scalpers wouldn’t take the graphics cards out of their packaging, thus reducing the value of the GPUs. Miners, on the other hand, put dozens of GPUs into so-called rigs, where they are supposed to mine valuable currency.
Such images are also the reason why many say that you shouldn’t buy these used GPUs, in order not to support the greed of the miners. After all, it was the miners who drove up the prices of GPUs so high.
Additionally, the graphics cards are stacked without packaging, which could scratch and damage the GPUs.
Where does the video come from? The short video comes from the TikTok channel Techzone_Import, which describes itself as a wholesaler in Dubai. However, the dealer’s page is somewhat unclear, as the site is only from 2023 and an imprint cannot be found. Nevertheless, it is not unusual for wholesalers to buy thousands of cards from miners very cheaply to still make money:

What does the current situation look like? These images are not necessarily new. A few months ago, desperate miners were already trying to get rid of their graphics cards.
The main reason is the significant loss of value of cryptocurrencies. If you look at Bitcoin over the last 6 months, the value has fallen from over 40,000 Euros per Bitcoin to just under 20,000 Euros in recent months. Meanwhile, the price has stabilized again and is now around 25,000 Euros.
The currency has still lost nearly 50% of its value. The value of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others have been falling for months and they have long left their highs from 2021.
Many are now hoping to at least limit their losses and are therefore selling thousands of graphics cards. Some are using quite sneaky tricks and tried to sell their worn-out GPUs as new, which caused astonishment.
Prices for graphics cards are lower today than in 2021
Compared to 2020/2021, the market for hardware and tech has calmed down again. Consoles like the PS5 can now be purchased everywhere, and you no longer have to fight with other users for a handful of consoles.
The situation is similar with graphics cards. The prices for graphics cards are significantly lower compared to 2020/2021 and are once again much closer to the recommended retail price. You can now get an RTX 3080 for 800 Euros and no longer have to pay 1,300 Euros or more.
Nevertheless, many wonder if one can buy graphics cards from such a mining system. Because the prices are often very low, and many still find the normal prices too high. After all, an RTX 3080 for 350 Euros is still very tempting for many gamers:
