Achievements, achievements, achievements, deeds. These are all names for a form of collectible content that has increasingly made its way into the world of MMOs over the past decade. While some of these achievements are practically thrown at you, others are indeed more difficult to obtain. Often, several conditions must be met, and the RNG gods must also be graciously inclined to bring about a very specific situation.
For other achievements, diligence, perseverance, and a large portion of skill are needed to transfer the points (which usually don’t provide any benefit) to your account.
Today we want to know from you, which achievement from which game is particularly important to you? What do you associate with the achievement and how hard did you have to work to earn it? Why did you take on this effort?
Cortyn says: I didn’t have to think long about the question, as I only really went on an “achievement hunt” in one game, and that was World of Warcraft. For many, the achievement is relatively unknown, as it only appears in the list of deeds once you have unlocked it. “On the Edge of Madness” or in English “Insane in the Membrane” requires the player to raise their reputation with some game factions to a high value.
What’s special is that most of these factions are pretty difficult or very tedious. For “Rabenholdt”, for instance, you need to exchange about 1400 Heavy Loot Boxes, which can only be obtained with a rogue. For another part of the achievement, you must demolish the neutral goblin town of Beutebucht to become revered with a pirate faction.
However, because that would be far too boring, you then have to become exalted with Beutebucht again – yes, you read that right. First, you decimate the goblin population until they attack you on their own, and then you butter them up piece by piece again. The effort is rewarded with the title “The Insane”. Even though I didn’t work on it “continuously”, the achievement sure occupied me for many weeks – too bad that the title is completely unsuitable for RP.
