What happens in Infinity War? In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos finally steps out of the shadows and shows the Marvel heroes what he can do. He wants to collect the Infinity Stones to eliminate half of all life in the universe.
He achieves this in the film, and we see the beloved heroes fail for the first time. Thanos fights against many heroes in several situations and wins every time through the power of the Infinity Stones. However, he could have been disarmed during one fight. At least you can see how around minute 24.
A tactic that is shown early on
What is it about? At the center of this “plothole” is Dr. Strange, who can do a lot with his magic. His most iconic ability is probably his portals, which his right-hand man, Wong, can also use. Wong demonstrates how powerful they can be in one of the film’s first fights.
After the fight against Hulk and Thor, you see Cull Obsidian and Ebony Maw coming to Earth to obtain the Time Stone from Dr. Strange. Iron Man, Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, and Wong stand against them.
In the fight against Cull, Wong sends him with a portal to the North or South Pole. At the last moment, Cull tries to reach through the portal, but Wong closes it, and Cull’s hand gets severed.
This would have also been a good idea against Thanos to remove the Infinity Gauntlet from him. Dr. Strange could have done this in the fight at the end of the film alongside Iron Man and Spider-Man, but he didn’t. While it seems that you cannot create portals “into something”, you could have timed it with a fighting Thanos.
One explanation could be certain restrictions of the portals, but these are never established or explained.

The two directors of the film, the Russo brothers, commented on this popular plot hole that fans like to bring up. Thanos’s skin is said to be nearly indestructible according to the brothers.
