The Avengers will soon receive a new series of movies. In these, Dr. Doom is expected to be the main antagonist. However, Marvel has now – intentionally or not – revealed who might potentially surpass him.
Next year is the time for fans of Marvel to expect the next big film with the Avengers. This one is called Doomsday and is set to hit theaters in December 2026. It is already confirmed that Dr. Doom is supposed to be the main villain. He will be played by Robert Downey Jr., who will thus take on his second role for Marvel.
A year later, Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to follow. Until recently, it was thought that Dr. Doom would also be the primary antagonist here – taking on a role similar to Thanos, who appears over several films. On MeinMMO, you can find 5 reasons why Dr. Doom surpasses his predecessor.
However, Disney, the company that owns Marvel, has now dropped a big spoiler at an event. A poster shown during an expo in Brazil featured another powerful villain who could prominently appear in Secret Wars.
This was previously unknown and could give away a big surprise. Beware, if you do not want to know more about it, you should stop reading now.
An arrogant being with too much power
What was shown? On the poster, three figures can be seen: Captain America, Spider-Man in the version of Miles Morales (who was also yet to be confirmed), and a mysterious figure in the background that is depicted as very large.
The poster itself caused confusion because it was fan art, not an official design – yet it was shown at an official occasion. Therefore, some were confused that an unannounced character was depicted. However, since the poster was used by Disney, it cannot be ruled out that the characters depicted will appear in the film. Particularly, the mysterious figure in the background is interesting.

The character is almost certainly Beyonder. This figure was created in 1984 by Jim Shooter and Mike Zech and made her debut in “Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #1”.
Beyonder is an exciting character who could keep the MCU and the Avengers on their toes. He hails not from Earth but from the so-called “Beyond Realm” – an existence beyond what we know.
However, Beyonder has the ability to leave his own universe and enter others. He is extremely powerful and can manipulate various things thanks to his powers. He is capable of altering reality. He can also create things, including entire universes. But since he is nearly all-powerful, he can also obliterate them.
To top it all off, Beyonder is also immortal. However, that does not mean that he is free of flaws, and this is where it gets really interesting.
What are Beyonder’s disadvantages? Although the figure resembles a god-like being in some respects, he is endowed with deeply human traits. Most of these tend to hinder him and make him unpredictable. Beyonder is highly unstable regarding his emotional state. He is also very self-absorbed, arrogant, and manipulative.
It is clear that he feels superior to all others. Again and again, this leads to problems that mainly the Avengers or other hero groups like the X-Men have to deal with. His impulsive nature makes Beyonder a significant threat. You never know how he will act next, and only gradually does he begin to question his actions and learn from them to become a better being.
What does all this mean for the Avengers? Primarily, that Dr. Doom will not be their biggest problem. Even Thanos from the older films cannot compete with Beyonder. It will be exciting to see how the heroes contend with the overpowering enemy, and whether they might even manage to reason with him.
Because as previously hinted, Beyonder is not incapable of learning new things. On the contrary: he wants to become smarter and better understand humans – including their inclination towards good and evil. Nevertheless, the Avengers will likely face a tough battle, and the audience an epic showdown.
