The Free2Play action MMO Marvel Heroes has a long journey behind it. Now, it seems to be promising a bright future and is doing everything possible to ensure that the “Age of Ultron” also becomes the era of Marvel Heroes.
“Marvel Heroes 2015” is what it’s called now, as it strongly distances itself from what was brought to market in the summer of 2013: That was a strange action brawler where you encountered your own clones at every turn and nothing really came together.
It was quickly criticized by large parts of the player base and some media as a “heartless cash grab with a strong license” and dismissed. And it would probably have disappeared without a trace. But that was just the beginning of the positive development.
Already in September 2013, the payment model was loosened significantly and the reinvention of the game began. In June 2014, the new name Marvel Heroes 2015 was adopted and it has been receiving praise and accolades since then after the mixed reviews of its early days.
Today, Marvel Heroes 2015 is considered the most successful reboot in the MMO sector since Final Fantasy XIV. It’s timely that Hollywood’s film studio is now releasing the next blockbuster movie. Avengers: Age of Ultron premieres today in Germany, followed next week in the USA.
To celebrate this appropriately at Marvel Heroes, some of the “old” characters are being redesigned, new costumes are being provided, and a completely new hero, the android The Vision, is being introduced.

The redesigned veterans happened to resemble what will be shown on the big screen. Inspired movie-goers can expect similar appearances on PC: The Black Widow looks strikingly similar to Scarlett Johansson. Thor also clearly shows the facial features of Chris Hemsworth.
The MMO in the DC universe DC Universe Online will likely also try to ride the wave next year, the Superman vs. Batman and Suicide Squad will set in motion. In a special feature, we presented the new type of action MMO, which also includes Marvel Heroes 2015.
