20-year-old Kai Cenat is currently the rising star of Twitch. In a stream on October 25, he wanted to give a viewer the chance to propose to his girlfriend. However, he received a rejection.
Who is Kai Cenat? The American is currently celebrating a meteoric rise on Twitch. In less than 2 years, he managed to become the second most-subscribed streamer on the platform – in the English-speaking world, he is even number 1 (via twitchtracker).
What kind of proposal was that? In a stream on October 25, Kai Cenat invited several viewers to appear with him via Discord video call. Things took a turn when he connected a fan with the fitting username “proposetomygirl”.
The viewer was preparing instant ramen and explained to Kai Cenat his situation: He had proposed to his girlfriend, but she had rejected him. Now, he hoped for help from the surprised streamer.
How the system with paid subscriptions (‘Subs’) works and what Amazon has to do with it, you can see in the video:
Kai Cenat gave the man a few tips (“make it sentimental”) and encouraged him to propose to his girlfriend again.
The viewer immediately took action and made his way to his partner with a ring box. She was apparently in bed under a pile of blankets and was, according to the viewer, sleeping.
However, that didn’t stop the man, and he tried his luck. The expected “yes” did not come, and the viewer turned to the streamer for help: “She said ‘no’, what do I do now?”
Kai Cenat advised the unlucky viewer to simply try again. He professed his love to his girlfriend before he asked the big question again. But he was met with another rejection.
At that point, the streamer had nothing more to say. He told the man it was probably time for his noodles and ended the call by noting that he had no time for LSF – a reference to the popular subreddit LivestreamFail, where clips of streamers are posted.

At this point, slightly over 40,000 people were watching the stream (via sullygnome). Meanwhile, the VOD has already surpassed 2,000,000 views.
The viewers who had been following along in the chat apparently didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. They doubted whether the situation was the right choice for a proposal. Others advised the man to break up.
How things went for the viewer and whether the whole story will still have a happy ending is currently unknown.
Were you able to watch the clip all the way to the end, or does it exceed your pain threshold? Feel free to leave a comment with your opinion.
The viewer of Kai Cenat is not the first for whom a public marriage proposal did not end well:
