Currently, there is an outage with the popular service WhatsApp. Many cannot use the app. What is going on and when will it be back up?
What kind of outage is this? Currently, there is a widespread outage with WhatsApp. The well-known website allestörungen reports thousands of responses from users that they cannot use their client. Also, on Twitter, thousands of users are currently reporting that they cannot reach anyone via WhatsApp.
Currently, more than 200,000 users are reporting issues with sending messages or connecting to the server. The outage has now been going on for around 20 minutes.
Update 10:24 AM: Thousands of users are still affected. The problems are still with logging in and sending messages. We will keep you updated if there are any news. The outage has now lasted about 40 minutes. Other services are not officially affected.
Update 10:44 AM: The outages are already decreasing, but there are still thousands of users affected who cannot send their messages. We will keep you updated.
Update 11:00 AM: The outages have now significantly decreased and many can use WhatsApp again. There is not yet an official statement. However, users were affected worldwide and not just in Germany. We will continue to keep you updated.
Update 11:24 AM: WhatsApp is now working again for many users. If WhatsApp still isn’t working for you, it’s best to restart your phone.
Which users are affected? Currently, outages are being reported from all over Germany. So it’s not just individual cities; users nationwide who want to use WhatsApp are affected.
Individual outages are also being reported on Facebook. However, these are by far not as frequent as the issues with the messaging service WhatsApp.
Are there any solutions currently? So far, there is no real solution and there is also no statement from WhatsApp itself or its parent company Meta (formerly Facebook). However, we will keep you updated in case there is a solution or an official response.
