The executive producer of Lord of the Rings Online, Rob Ciccolini, spoke with fans of the MMORPG about the upcoming content. The focus of the next major update will be on the Dwarves.
The Grey Mountains await the players
New area: Later this year, players of Lord of the Rings Online (HdRO) will embark on a journey to the Grey Mountains. There they will find a completely new zone filled with remnants of ancient dwarf architecture.
As is fitting for an expansion in the Grey Mountains, players will also encounter dragons. To prepare for these powerful monsters, the level cap will be increased. Additionally, the new area will focus more on instanced zones than previous updates.

Other content was also discussed at the conference:
- Minas Morgul is coming: It has been almost two years since the last major expansion – Mordor. Minas Morgul could be the next big expansion.
- The Region of Harad is also expected to come to HdRO eventually.
- Particularly, the announcement that the chapter “Scouring of the Shire” will be making its way into the game excited fans greatly.
What is the Scouring of the Shire? This is a chapter from the third Lord of the Rings book. The chapter has not yet been adapted in any of the movies. In the chapter, the four companions Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin return to the Shire. However, the once-peaceful area has been corrupted by the wizard Saruman, and the group is trying to reclaim it.
Will Dwarves get more customization options?
Female Dwarves: Whether players should have the option to create female Dwarves is hotly debated in the Lord of the Rings Online fan forums. Both sides have arguments for and against. However, it is quite possible that playable female Dwarves will come to Lord of the Rings Online in the future. The development team is still keeping quiet on the topic.

The 64-bit client lives! Some fans had worried that work on the 64-bit client had been abandoned. However, the team is working on it again. Additionally, the balance of the classes and the PvMP will be revised.
