In the Free2Play MMORPG The Lord of the Rings Online, the expansion Mordor will bring a new raid with multiple bosses: the Abyss of Mordath.
The Lord of the Rings Online has been sailing since the end of 2016 with the same crew, but under a new flag. The Standing Stone Games are currently working hard on the first expansion for The Lord of the Rings Online in years, Mordor.
They are currently celebrating the 10th anniversary of the MMORPG and hosted a live stream to celebrate. There, they shared information about the expansion Mordor.
Sauron is dead, but there will still be a raid
When the heroes arrive in Mordor, the Ring will already have been destroyed and Sauron defeated. A large raid battle with “Sauron” as the final boss – that would not really be the style of The Lord of the Rings Online. After all, Frodo, Sam, and Gollum could only destroy the Ring because Sauron did not detect them. A heavily armed expedition would not have gone unnoticed by Sauron.
Mordor therefore takes place “after the business with the Ring and Mount Doom.”
The raid will be named “The Abyss of Mordath.” The developers promise a “multi-boss” raid.
The raid is not expected to launch directly with the expansion Mordor. Standing Stone Games wants to hold back the raid a bit so that heroes can take their time instead of rushing through the content.
Much is already known about Mordor: The expansion is expected around “Summer 2017.” This will be Update 21. With this update, the “High Elves” will appear as a new playable race. Additionally, there is a revision of player character animations and character models planned. However, players will also have the option to continue playing with the old models.
After Update 21 and Mordor, “The Lord of the Rings Online” will not end. The license has been extended, and they intend to tell new stories, explore lands, and achieve deeds.
