In League of Legends, the Worlds 2024 have begun. However, for fans of Faker and his team T1, things are not looking good so far. In the Swiss Stage, they need to qualify for the knockout phase. The first match of the Korean team did not go well.
What is the Swiss Stage? Before reaching the knockout phase, where teams eliminate each other in decisive matches to reach the final, there is the Swiss Stage. In this main round, 16 teams face each other, having qualified either directly for Worlds or through the Play-In Stage. In 5 rounds, any team that wins at least 3 rounds moves forward.
All normal matches are played as Best-of-1, but when it comes to elimination or victory in the knockout phase, they are played Best-of-3. In the first match, 2023 World Champion T1 faced the Chinese team Top Esports. It did not go well for T1.

Despite a good start, T1 was unable to win
How did the match go? Initially, things were not bad for T1. Zeus as Jax managed to secure an early kill on the top lane with Gumayusi. By minute 12:50, T1 also achieved a good gold lead, but then a teamfight occurred.
In the jungle of Top Esports, Faker as Neeko and Keria as Rakan initiated a teamfight by tossing 2 opponents with a Neeko ultimate and a Rakan W. However, Meiko as Rell and Tian as Skarner from Top Esports responded well and countered T1 with their CC. During the fight, JackeyLove as Jhin secured a quadra kill against T1.
This allowed Top Esports to catch up on the gold lead of T1. In later teamfights, Top Esports also won, especially due to the CC from Rell and Skarner and the extremely high damage from Jhin and Aurora, played by Creme.
After about 30 minutes, Top Esports was able to win the game.
How does the community react? The community on reddit praises Top Esports and the good teamwork of the Chinese players. Especially Rell and Skarner are a popular aspect here.

The combination and spacing of the team, allowing JackeyLove to hit his Jhin ultimate, is positively highlighted by the community. Overall, it’s clear that the entire Top Esports team has done a good job. However, the community is not convinced by a new change in regular LoL: LoL: Players are frustrated because Riot is deleting a popular feature: “The change is incredibly bad”
