It is the weekend, which means it is time for the game mode rotation in League of Legends – what can we expect this weekend and what are the rules?
The first event of the game mode rotation is just around the corner. It is expected to start this afternoon at around 4 PM and ends on Monday morning (Available daily from 11 AM to 3 AM). The game mode is called “Ascension” and has been playable in the past, when the Champion Azir was released during the “Shurima Event”.
How does the “Ascension” event work in LoL?
- You cannot, like on Summoner’s Rift, “leave” from the base. To enter the map, you must use the item “Golden Supremacy“, which allows you to teleport.
- To win, you must collect points – the first team to reach 200 points wins the game.
- There is 1 point for kills, 3 points for capturing one of the 3 Shurima relics that are scattered across the map, 5 points for defeating an Ascended Champion. Ascended Champions receive not 1 point but 2 points per kill.
- For your Champion to ascend, you must defeat the Ancient Xerath, who can be found in the middle of the map. However, you cannot “just do this” solo; you need your whole team to take him down.
- The Ascension Buff grants you special power through increased health, infinite mana, AD and AP, cooldown reduction, and additionally (Yes, that wasn’t powerful enough) armor penetration & magic penetration.
- To ensure that the team holding the buff remains “mortal”, there are also negative aspects: healing and regeneration effects are only half as strong. Furthermore, the team without the buff has permanent vision of the team with the ascended Champions.
- Once the ancient Xerath dies, it won’t be long before a new Xerath appears, who will then redistribute the buff.
Although the “Ascension” event has existed in League of Legends, the developers did not need to make significant changes to the game mode for it to fit into the current game. The graphics have been slightly adjusted, and you can also earn Champion Mastery Points. Additionally, you can earn keys and chests for Hextech Crafting in this game mode.
