Garen, one of the easiest champions to play in League of Legends, is currently surprising the professional scene. A Korean team has successfully used him as a secret weapon in the LCK Summer Playoffs.

However, for a Korean team, this champion has proven to be a secret weapon.

Gen.G dominates with Garen in the LCK

Which team played the champion? Gen.G is a team from the Korean LCK league, which is considered the toughest region in League of Legends. As part of the LCK Summer Playoffs, the team chose to pick Garen not just once, but in two games.

In these games, Garen was not played in the same lane: In one game, he was used by Chovy, one of the best midlaners in the world, in the midlane, while Kiin played him in the top lane. This made it significantly harder for opponents to counter effectively in the champion selection, leading to Gen.G winning both games.

How did the games go? In the first game, Garen faced Showmaker’s unusual choice of Nasus in the midlane. The first game also produced a viral clip that gained attention on X, where Chovy skillfully eliminated Kingen’s Olaf.

The second Garen game took place in the top lane again against Nasus, with Kiin finishing the game with a 3/3/7 score, and Gen.G decisively won the series with a clear 3:0 victory.

These games have shown that Garen, while a very easy champion to play, can also impress in professional games and be extremely powerful.
