Originally, there were only going to be 6 wizards that Riot wanted to change with the Wizard Update in the MOBA League of Legends (LoL). However, this list of the 6 wizards now also includes Annie with her big friend “Tibbers”. Annie also fits the profile of the update, as she is one of the wizards who is not particularly mobile.
Annie in LoL: Easy to play – hard to master
Annie is among the champions that are often recommended to beginners when they want to try a wizard hero in League of Legends. The low purchase price (450 IP) also attracts many players to enter the Rift with Annie and her bear “Tibbers”. Although the developers appreciate how Annie has “aged” throughout the game (she has been in the game since February 21, 2009), they are somewhat disappointed with the current Tibbers.
Because even though he appears very dramatic in the game, his combat potential is sobering after this appearance. In the official League of Legends forum, RiotBelugaWhale has now announced the planned changes to the fire duo.
Annie’s changes in the Wizard Update in LoL
Traits of Annie that are likely to remain:
- The combination of Flash + Tibbers. Annie’s typical skill combo is so important for her that the developers want to keep it in the game. Even if they like to incorporate abilities that can be dodged, there should still be abilities that players can practically “rely on”.
- Annie’s unique learning curve. Even as a beginner, she can be handled quite well, and players quickly understand the basic principles of this hero in LoL. However, there is a lot of potential in Annie that particularly emerges with increasing player experience.
Traits that are unsatisfactory and need improvement:
- The Tibbers AI and its control. After summoning Tibbers, he is practically only known as “the cuddliest sunfire cape in League of Legends”. While there is much power in Tibbers, he is often only used to tank towers or run “mindlessly” towards enemies.
- Hidden power and not obvious danger. The constant focus on Annie’s buffs should not be the only way to find out when her next spell stuns her targets.
- The melted shield (E) as a filler. This ability is currently often only used to grant a stack for Pyromania (passive).
Tibbers is supposed to benefit from Annie’s abilities
After the changes in the Wizard Update of LoL, Annie should have the following traits:
- Annie players should feel more connected to Tibbers once he is summoned. This means that her direct abilities can be directly shifted to her bear Tibbers.
- It should be more obvious for players playing against Annie when she is particularly dangerous and when she does not pose a high threat.
- The melted shield (E) should be significantly more important and provide more defense – especially for a wizard who needs to be close to the fight to throw a bear into the brawl.
