Wards in League of Legends are a difficult topic; the further you go down the ranks, the fewer players seem to know how useful Wards actually are. Knowing where the enemy Wards are is also important. Last year, Riot introduced a small feature intended to motivate you to ping Wards.
What feature is it? At the end of last year, Riot introduced a new ping function regarding Wards. If an enemy places a Ward and you see it and ping it afterwards, you get 5 Gold. But this only applies to the first one from your team who pings the Ward.
The big team advantage is that for a certain time, a Ward symbol is displayed with a bar over the spot where the ping occurred, giving you a better overview of Wards and the vision of the enemies. It’s a fundamentally good feature that provides oversight, especially without team coordination. But especially the 5 Gold seem to entice players.
