In League of Legends, there are various features designed to enhance your gaming experience. After Riot Games added a feature to the shop in an update, it took a year for the community to discover it. The item shop has always had fun interactions, and we’ll show you a few of them.
What is this feature? The item shop offers players the opportunity to improve themselves. Items make your champions stronger. However, sometimes you don’t immediately know which item you can improve and how. That’s why a new feature was introduced to assist you with that.
When you open the shop, you can not only search for items but also mark your inventory items with the keys 1-7. As soon as you do this, the items you can build from your already purchased item will be displayed.
Riot Games regularly updates their game and added a feature in a patch a year ago to help you. However, nobody has discovered this feature for a year. The players probably read the patch notes, but overlooked this change in the shop and didn’t regard it as important.

“I have been playing for 10 years and still didn’t know this”
This is what players say: When players shared their discovery on reddit, there was some surprise about the hidden feature. Some fans have been playing for ages and knew nothing about the change.
A user explains that while Riot did explain the new feature, only a few people seem to have noticed it.
How useful is the feature? Due to its ease of use, many fans see a benefit in the time saved, which can be quite valuable in the heat of the moment. Others see the risk of an accident:
I would be too scared to accidentally use my stopwatch.

In fact, the new shop feature has a relatively small impact on the gameplay and is mainly valuable in high-rank matches where every second counts. In regular matches, the feature serves more for convenience.
The LoL shop has many other features
What other features are there? To honor a former coach, Riot Games has built an Easter egg into the LoL shop. If you type “LS” or “Last Shadow” into the search bar, you will be shown 2 items: Liandry’s Anguish and the Morellonomicon.
- Nick “LS” De Cesare (the nickname stands for “Last Shadow”) is the former coach of Cloud 9. Since then, he occasionally streams on Twitch.
- As a streamer, he is currently commenting on the World Championship of League of Legends and has long accompanied the LCK as a commentator.
- He has made a name for himself by stating that Liandry’s Anguish is a stronger item than the Morellonomicon.
When De Cesare first stumbled upon the Easter egg, he was reduced to tears in his livestream:
The shop has more exciting Easter eggs:
- If you type “tons of damage” in the search bar, the strength of Trinity will be shown. The voice from the champion spotlights of LoL used this description for strong champions. It has even developed to the point where memes were created around it (via YouTube).
- To search for wards, you can alternatively type “pink” in the search bar. You will then see the control wards, which were previously called “pinkwards” in English.
- The Horn of the Protector, which is only available on the ARAM map, was accidentally referred to as biceps by LCS commentator Sam “Kobe” Hartman-Kenzler. Since then, you can search for the terms “Golden Bicep of Kobe” & “Golden Arm of Kobe” in the shop and find the item.
However, these features are not really useful, merely a homage to special people from the LoL community.
If you have discovered other features or Easter eggs, let us know in the comments.
