The developers at Riot Games are now revealing what the drop rates for loot box content in League of Legends look like. In a post from the League of Legends support, the chances for the various rewards of Hextech Crafting have now been disclosed.
Hextech Crafting – The Chances
The reward system of League of Legends, Hextech Crafting, rewards players for good matches with chests. These must be opened with keys, which can also be earned. Randomly, key fragments are distributed at the end of a won game – playing in groups increases the chance of getting a fragment. Three fragments combined yield a key to open a chest.
Through sportsmanship and good behavior, you can also earn fragments.
In the chests, there are various rewards: from Skin Shards, which can be transformed into permanent skins with in-game currency, to Gemstones, which can be crafted into additional chests. The Gemstones can also be saved for particularly rare skins.
According to Riot’s explanation, the value of a skin has nothing to do with how often it drops. A legendary and thus particularly valuable skin could drop as frequently as a “normal” skin.
There are about 800 skins in League of Legends that can drop from chests. This means there is a 1:8 drop chance (0.125%) for each individual skin. Exceptions are skins like Hextech-Annie, which are exclusive to the Hextech system. The chance for such a skin to drop is 1:2500.
