In League of Legends, there will soon be an option to purchase skins with in-game currency.
Chroma skins in LoL represent the played character in different color tones. Unlike “regular” champion skins, the base theme of the champion is not changed, but rather the color of outfits, weapons, and the character itself. Often the question has arisen among LoL players whether it is really necessary to pay for Chroma skins with “real money”. The developers have listened to the questions and requests of the players and explained in a “Ask Riot” event that they have come up with a solution to this problem.
The focus is on aesthetics, price, and packages
With the revision of Chroma skins, the “League of Legends” developers are responding to player feedback. Chroma skins are now expected to become even more popular among fans. To enable more players to enjoy these skins without having to invest “real money”, Riot has devised a system that will make these skins more affordable.
Many players have a favorite skin in LoL but are reluctant to share it with others. With a Chroma for that special skin, one differentiates themselves a little further from other players who own the skin without Chroma. Riot states that Chromas enhance the experience with the content one already possesses, loves, and plays repeatedly. The Chroma system has now been revised with a focus on aesthetics, price, and packages.
The new Chroma prices in LoL
The following system will soon await League of Legends players:
- Chroma skins will be available both in packages with a discount and individually, so they can also be purchased separately.
- The color schemes have been revised. Additionally, the skins now feature color patterns and textures.
- The Chroma skins will cost 290 RP – Additionally, there will be 2x a year EP/IP special offers. The first EP/IP special offers start on 25.08.2016 and end on 08.09.2016. These special offers apply to all Chroma skins released before August 2016.
- Chroma skins will be available individually for 2000 IP.
With this, RiotGames not only makes Chroma skins more popular among fans and provides more visual variety, but it also gives players with a lot of EP/IP the opportunity to “meaningfully” spend the in-game currency.
For some players who have already purchased all champions in the game, many EP/IP have accumulated. Players like “Karl” will soon have the opportunity to spend these accumulated points and convert them into skins.
What do you think of the new Chroma system?
