In League of Legends the Worlds 2022 are currently taking place. The German pro Elias “Upset” Lipp (22) has astonishing stats in KDA after 4 games because he hardly dies: But he has now suffered a bitter defeat: Against the Brazilian underdogs LOUD, his LoL team Fnatic suddenly looked quite old. The draft seemed arrogant, and in the game, they were vulnerable.
These are the good news for Upset: The German ADC Upset has once again achieved outstanding strong stats (via oracleselixir.gg):
- Upset has already secured 23 kills and 13 assists in 4 games at the LoL Worlds 2022
- He has only died once
His KDA is thus at 36.0 – which is slightly better than that of the midlaner Zeka from DRX, who, while offensively more successful with 29 kills and 22 assists, has already died twice.
Out of 63 players who have participated in the Worlds so far, Upset has the best stats.
This is nothing new for Upset. The 22-year-old plays incredibly disciplined, takes few risks, and has therefore achieved the highest KDA repeatedly over the last 2 years:
By the way, one of the worst stats at the Worlds has the top laner ADD, who resorted to the extreme and played an impossible champ. His KDA is 0.8.
Fnatic loses against the Brazilians – They celebrate every good action in the game
This is the bad news for Upset: His team Fnatic has suffered its first defeat, and that against a team from a “small region”.
After easily defeating their actual competitor Evil Geniuses (USA), they surprisingly lost against the Brazilians from LOUD. Fnatic lost clearly, even though Upset managed not to die in the game. Upset withdrew every time things went bad for his team, and that happened often.
Why did they lose? The team composition simply did not work for Fnatic, then came individual mistakes when they fell behind early:
- Top laner Wunder chose Fiora, could not do anything against Aatrox and played 0-4-1.
- Razork on Sejuani was equally ineffective: 1-6-1. The opposing Maokai (jungler Croc) appeared to be the match-winner for LOUD with 1-2-15.
- Support Hylissang could not convince on Braum – The Bulgarian has been criticized for years for playing well but having catastrophic matches repeatedly.
- Mid laner Humanoid has a kind of hero complex: He plays high-risk. When it goes well, he looks like a star. But in the match against LOUD, he took too many risks and ultimately put his team behind because he dove into the opponents with Akali during an important team fight and fizzled out ineffectively.

The fans judge that Fnatic’s draft seemed “arrogant”, as if they did not take the opponent seriously.
The casters said: The draft seemed to have mixed 2 different ideas – especially the choice of supporter is criticized: Instead of Braum, Fnatic should have chosen a mobile supporter.
Fans on Twitter even explicitly demand that Hylissang be replaced and that the substitute supporter Rhuckz, who played the first 2 matches without dying, be brought back.
What was special. The Brazilian underdogs played passionately and exuberantly, and they took an early lead. When they succeeded in plays, they shouted out their joy.
The young botlaner from LOUD, “Brance”; even had “Bot Gap” written on his bicep and showed it proudly whenever he succeeded in a play with his Miss Fortune, and these good actions happened more often. The 18-year-old played 8-1-7.
In mid-game, it seemed for a moment that LOUD could still lose control of the game and Fnatic could come back into the match, but further individual mistakes tipped the match.
The combination of Aatrox, Maokai, Miss Fortune, and Amumu seemed very strong – these seem to be the in-demand picks at the moment that allow for a multitude of kills.
At Fnatic, they joke after the defeat. “Okay, who told them that Upset is German?” – a reference that the Brazilians might have avenged for the 7:1 in the 2014 World Cup semifinals.
