The sandbox MMORPG Legends of Aria (formerly Shards Online) will soon enter its final alpha phase before transitioning to beta.
Legends of Aria aims to follow in the footsteps of the classic Ultima Online and, according to players who participated in the alpha phases, does so surprisingly well.
For many, this MMORPG is as complex as UO and offers just as much freedom. Additionally, players have the option to not only play in the vast official world but also to rent their own worlds, called shards, and develop them with their own landscapes, rules, monsters, adventures, and more.

Much New in the Final Alpha
The developers have now announced that the final alpha phase of the game will begin before it transitions to beta. The final alpha starts on September 21.
In this version, testers will be served many new features, including another large region of the game world, dozens of additional abilities, more weapons and armors, hundreds of extra items, and new areas where players can settle, namely housing zones.
Players Influence the Economy
The next alpha will also introduce a new economic system. This is expected to become an important feature for the game. Because players will significantly influence the economy in Legends of Aria. Further innovations regarding the final alpha phase will be announced by the developers.
Legends of Aria is expected to be released on Steam next year.
