On September 26, 2025, 2 European teams played in League of Legends for a spot in the semifinals of the LEC 2025 Summer Playoffs. The German ADC Upset faced the French prodigy Caliste.
What a match it was! This weekend, the final of the LEC Playoffs 2025 will take place. The team G2, led by midlaner Caps, has already qualified for the final on September 29, 2025. On September 26, 2025, Fnatic played against the French team Karmine Corp.
The German player Upset faced off against Caliste on the bot lane, who, despite his young age, is considered an ADC prodigy and was also named the LEC Rookie of the Year (via YouTube). Both teams were not only playing for entry into the semifinals of the LEC 2025 Summer Playoffs but also for the last slot for Europe at the Worlds.
Fnatic immediately showed why they had participated in every World Championship since 2017.
Fnatic showed they can change their tactics after a loss
How did the games go? The first match started quite slowly. Both teams played cautiously, trying not to make mistakes. Although Karmine Corp secured objectives, Fnatic always managed to grab something in exchange.
While Karmine Corp took a herald, Fnatic secured the dragon and got a kill. This allowed Fnatic to gradually build pressure, which led to victory after nearly 39 minutes.
In the second match, they were able to build and extend that pressure. Fnatic demonstrated beautiful team fights in both matches, where particularly their positioning and calmness were on point. Upset specifically showed with his Zeri and a score of 12/0/3 how dominant he can be in applying pressure. After 33 minutes, they secured the win here as well.
The third match initially looked similar. Fnatic stuck to their strategy, but Karmine Corp returned to the game with a strong team fight starting around minute 25. They broke Fnatic’s calm and even managed to secure 4 dragons. Although they briefly fell behind, they countered Fnatic, who had taken an Elder Dragon.
In a final baron fight, Karmine Corp demonstrated that they could also prepare and execute impressive team fights. With the won baron, they achieved their first victory. It was now 2:1 for Fnatic.
Fnatic was not discouraged by the third match. Early on, they played aggressively, and Oscarinin especially showed with his Gwen how dominant he could lead the lane. This offensive playstyle continued throughout the game, allowing Fnatic to maintain a solid gold advantage. They did not relinquish control, and as they made few errors, they won the match and thus the round.
The German ADC Upset demonstrated strong performance throughout the match, securing a total of 23 kills while only dying twice in the third match.
What’s next? Fnatic secured a place in the semifinals with their victory and also a spot at this year’s Worlds, the World Championship in LoL. Today, on September 27, 2025, they will face Moviestar KOI.
The winner of this match will face G2 for the LEC championship title on Sunday, September 28, 2025. This year’s Worlds will likely be the last for a Korean legend: Well-known LoL professional retires after 11 years to serve in the military
