In Genshin Impact, the new Patch 1.1 is on the horizon. It will introduce 4 new characters to the game. However, a new leak shows 9 additional characters and a new zone that could be released with Patch 1.2 in December.
What characters are these? In Genshin Impact, everything revolves around the various characters you can control. We already know 4 new characters that will come with Patch 1.1. Another leak presents these 4 and 4 additional characters.
However, the reddit user drakolla911 has shared images and information about 9 more characters that are unrelated to the previous 8. Currently, there are indications of a total of 17 new characters.
For the 8 newest characters, there is already an image, their names, as well as their corresponding elements and weapons. We from MeinMMO will briefly introduce them to you.
9 New Characters for Genshin Impact
Here are the 9 characters: We will introduce the characters from left to right, starting with the top ones and then the bottom ones:
- Hu Tao | Element: Pyro | Weapon: Polearm | Origin: Liyue
- Mimi | Element: Hydro | Weapon: Catalyst | Origin: Inazuma
- Yunjin | Element: Geo | Weapon: Polearm | Origin: Liyue
- Yaoyao | Element: Dendro | Weapon: Catalyst | Origin: Liyue
- Sayu | Element: Anemo | Weapon: Claymore | Origin: Inazuma
- Tohama | Element: Pyro | Weapon: Polearm | Origin: Inazuma
- Shenli*| Element: Pyro | Weapon: Claymore | Origin: Liyue
- Rosaria* | Element: Cryo | Weapon: Polearm | Origin: Mondstadt
- Also included is Kazuha | Element: Anemo | Weapon: Sword | Origin: Inazuma – However, there is no image of Kazuha.
*The author indicates that they might have confused these two characters.
What else does the leak promise? Dedicated players may have already recognized that some of the characters are from Inazuma. This area does not currently exist and will be added to the game with a future update.
When will the changes be released? A release for Patch 1.1 is ruled out. However, the developers have already promised regular updates:
- Patch 1.2 is set to be released on December 23
- Patch 1.3 in February 2021
It is quite possible that we will encounter the first of these characters there. It is likely that the 4 characters from the old leak will still be included in the December patch. The newer characters will only come together with the Inazuma area.
Player reactions are subdued
How are players reacting to the leak? Under the reddit thread, there is already some criticism. The reason for this is the combination of elements and weapons:
- With Tohama and Hu Tao, two of the new characters are using Pyro and polearms – just like Xiangling, one of the currently most popular characters in Genshin Impact.
- Rosaria also uses Cryo and the claymore – just like Chongyun.
- Additionally, many characters with polearms are appearing – so far, there has only been one with Xiangling.
Despite the criticism, many players are looking forward to the new features in the role-playing game.
