League of Legends is due for a long-overdue overhaul. One of the most well-known champs of LoL, Mordekaiser, is getting a revamp of his abilities and a new ultimate that turns him into a 1vs1 champ.
This is how Mordekaiser is meant to be: The LoL developers at Riot say Mordekaiser should be a walking fortress of steel that exudes the breath of death.
In the game, however, this has never really worked: Here is a guy in huge armor with a massive mace, who prefers to hide in the bushes, attacks from a distance, and sends a pet into battle.
A harbinger of death with a mace and armor is more likely to be seen personally at the front by Riot than to let others do his work.
Why does Mordekaiser need a revamp? Besides the discrepancy between idea and reality, Mordekaiser has long been considered a champ among LoL fans who simply has so much wrong with him.
The champ joined League of Legends in February 2010, and many of his skills seem somewhat outdated or have never really worked.
An enthusiastic Mordekaiser created a list of 180 bugs in 2017 detailing what is exactly broken with Mordekaiser in LoL. Especially Mordekaiser’s ultimate had drawn the ire of players at that time. The champ can at least apply a debuff to a target and then use it as a pet when the opponent dies. Most Mordekaiser players get a dragon as a pet.
But the criticism: The pet behaves like a “teenager who just plays Vayne.” It is uncontrollable and does whatever it wants.
This is Mordekaiser’s new ultimate: With the pet, Mordekaiser in LoL will soon have no more problems, as it will be removed.
Instead, he will be able to challenge opponents to a “1vs1” that lasts 7 seconds. He banishes the opponent to the realm of death and steals a percentage of their core stats. If Mordekaiser defeats the opponent, he retains the stats until the opponent respawns.
Do players have a chance to escape? The idea from Riot is that players should try to escape Mordekaiser in the realm of death by using a flash wisely or simply being smarter than him.

When is it coming? Patch server 9.12 should be supplied with the new Mordekaiser next week, then it’s just a matter of time before he goes live.

- even better at ruining the day of teammates who have already made 4 kills and are going for a penta kill
