The MMORPG classic Tibia now offers fans a new, special outfit. It is a golden armor, but it is extremely expensive.
What is Tibia? Tibia is one of the oldest still active MMORPGs. It was launched in 1997. You create a hero, explore a large fantasy land with friends, fight monsters, complete quests, and improve your hero.
Graphically, the 3D online game cannot keep up with modern competition today, yet Tibia has a very loyal fan base. The community is still active and only two years ago unveiled a 12-year-old secret.
An expensive golden armor
What was announced? The developers have introduced a new outfit for players. It is a golden armor that you can obtain for 500,000,000 gold pieces from King Tibianus, Queen Eloise, and Emperor Kruzak. For an additional 250,000,000 gold pieces, you can also get the matching helmet, and if you spend another 250,000,000 gold, you will receive the boots.
With one billion gold pieces, you are fully equipped in gold.
Included is also a doll, through which you can display the armor in your house.
What is special about it? Through outfits, players individualize their heroes. It is simply part of the MMORPG to buy and collect outfits. However, something like the golden outfit has never existed before. This should be of great interest to Tibia fans.
However, the price is steep. 500,000,000 gold just for the armor and the same amount for the helmet and boots is a lot of money. It is thus the most expensive outfit in the game!
The armor can still be dyed, but only in a few places so that the golden character remains intact.
A pile of money
How does one get so much money? Farming one billion gold in Tibia takes a long time. Completing the daily quest earns you about 2,000 gold.
How many euros would one approximately have to pay for the armor? However, it is possible to buy Tibia coins for real money and trade with them. 250 coins cost around 9 euros. 4,500 coins are about 150 euros.
The value of a Tibia coin in gold is hard to determine, as prices vary from server to server, and depend on supply and demand. The price is currently averaging around 25,000 gold for a coin.
If you scale this up, you would have to buy about 40,000 coins to reach one billion gold. That would then be about 1,333 euros. That’s a lot of money for an outfit in a game.
What do the players think of the outfit? The golden armor was a suggestion in the MMORPG’s forum. This suggestion was supported by many players. However, now some critical voices are raising their concerns that the price seems a bit too high, as can be read on Reddit.
