Reason 4: Gripping fights for life and death
Speaking of which: In the first Kingdom Come, fights were one of the biggest frustration factors of the game. With part 2, however, the developers have reduced the number of possible attack directions and simplified blocking and countering enemy attacks. This should make it much easier for all players, especially in one-on-one situations, to succeed without severe injuries.
However, this does not mean that fights have become easy, especially in the first half of the game. If you react too late or incorrectly to the opponent’s blows, Heinrich will be defeated on the ground in seconds. If you just blindly hit the opponent, you can easily receive counterattacks or become out of breath.
25 minutes of gameplay from Kingdom Come Deliverance 2:
Moreover, outside of duels, you often deal with multiple adversaries. If even one fiend gets behind Heinrich or hits an unprotected flank, the thought “When did I last save?” almost automatically comes to mind.
However, if you keep a cool head, position yourself optimally, cleverly exploit any bottlenecks, and mainly focus on countering, you can master such situations. The tense posture, sweaty hands, and the heart pumping at full speed impressively demonstrate how effective the combat system of KCD2 is.
Reason 5: Crystal-clear single-player RPG
We live in times when publishers exploit their renowned studios for service games and in which in-game shops, online requirements, and battle pass offers spoil almost every genre. It is thus even more pleasant when a studio invests a lot of money to develop an almost old-school gaming experience for single players that can be bought and played completely.
The two parts of Kingdom Come are exactly those pure single-player adventures. Of course, it’s a bit unfortunate that over the course of 2025, three paid quest DLCs for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 are to come.
However, the main story of part 2 can be fully completed without the DLCs. Also, in the side stories, you won’t encounter open ends that are finalized by one of the DLCs. Moreover, the scope at release is already so enormous that it might deter some players rather than attract them. In other words: You get a lot for your money.
KCD 2 is the first major role-playing game of 2025 and will be released on February 4, 2025, for PS5, Xbox, and PC. What you should know about the release, preload, the editions, the features of the PS5 Pro, the roadmap, as well as the price and duration of the RPG can be found in our overview of Kingdom Come Deliverance.
