H1Z1: King of the Kill is now only referred to as H1Z1. Is this a hint at the imminent launch of the game and the end of the early access phase?
Under H1Z1: King of the Kill, we know of a battle royale game that was once the PvP spin-off of the zombie survival game H1Z1. Eventually, King of the Kill became so popular that the original H1Z1 was separated under the name “Just Survive”.
Thus, the original H1Z1 became a standalone game that no longer carries the name H1Z1 in the title.
In King of the Kill, it seems that developer Daybreak is going the opposite way.
Is H1Z1 the new brand name of the battle royale game?
If we are to believe the current rumors circulating online, H1Z1: King of the Kill will soon just be called H1Z1. There are the following hints supporting this:
- When the new pro league in esports was recently announced, only H1Z1 was mentioned without any extra reference to King of the Kill.
- The new loading screen of the test server only shows the title H1Z1 in a video. Here too, the addition “King of the Kill” was missing.
Furthermore, according to the site MassivelyOP, the title “King of the Kill” is no longer necessary. There would be no confusion with the sandbox zombie game since its renaming to “Just Survive” and with the removal of the H1Z1 title, anyway.
So why still use cumbersome terminologies when everyone is now referring to the game simply as H1Z1?
Is the full release of H1Z1 approaching? Will it be free2play?
The alleged renaming of the game to just H1Z1 could, according to MassivelyOP, even mean that the game may finally be released as a full release. It is still in early access on Steam. The launch was already planned for last year but has been postponed indefinitely, along with the versions for PS4 and Xbox One.
Meanwhile, people are speculating further on Reddit. When H1Z1 is released, it could potentially even become a free2play title. At least that was the plan back when the game was still under Sony Online Entertainment.
Due to changes in the UI on the start screen, the developers will officially speak later. Possibly the final name of the game will also be clarified then.
H1Z1: King of the Kill is not afraid of the big competitor PUBG – There is room for both games!
