Are you always running out of storage on your gaming PC? A manufacturer has now introduced a special SSD, but it’s not exactly cheap.
Storage space is always tight for gamers. Games keep getting larger, and you also need to store plenty of other things. It’s not surprising that players are looking for ever larger storage media.
The manufacturer Apex Storage has introduced a special solution here. A storage medium that you can expand with additional storage as you wish. However, it’s not exactly cheap and is therefore aimed more at professional users.
An adapter card that can cost up to 20,000 euros when fully outfitted
What exactly is this device? The special thing about it is that it is a so-called adapter card. You install the card in your computer and can fit up to 21 SSDs on the card with a total capacity of 168 TB. With 16 TB SSDs, even 336 TB should be possible.
According to the manufacturer, the card is supposed to be compatible with all major SSD manufacturers. Additionally, they promise a read speed of 30.5 GB/s and a write speed of up to 26.5 GB/s.
How much does such an SSD cost? However, it comes at a price as well. According to the manufacturer, you need to pay 2,800 US dollars just for the adapter card. For that money, you could already get a powerful gaming PC. On top of that, you’ll also need to buy the SSDs:
- SSDs with 8 TB cost between 400 and 500 euros right now. With 21 SSDs, we’d already be at 10,500 euros.
- For SSDs with 16 TB, the prices are significantly higher. So if you want the maximum configuration with 336 TB, you’ll have to lay down more than 20,000 euros.
Who needs something like this? For the average gamer, such a model is probably not an option. Instead, the manufacturer targets areas like machine learning, where a lot of space and high speed are needed.
