The Draft mode of FIFA 19 is popular among many players, but it costs coins and does not promise the best rewards. How worthwhile is a Draft really?
This is the FUT Draft: The Draft mode was playable for the first time in FIFA 16. For a fee of 15,000 coins or 300 FIFA Points, you can also participate in the Draft in FIFA 19.
This is how the Draft works: The principle has not changed since its introduction. Overall, you have to play four matches. Whoever loses is out. The more wins (maximum 4) you achieve, the better the rewards.
At the beginning of a round, you can choose a formation that you cannot change afterwards.
Now you must select a captain for your team from five proposals. Afterwards, five players will be suggested for each position, from which you can choose one. Here, it is important to find the right balance between chemistry and rating.
Those who want profit must win
These rewards are available: Depending on how far you get, you can receive different rewards. If you lose the very first match, you might only get sets worth approximately 15,000 coins in shop prices. So about three Gold Packs.
If you win all four Draft matches, the rewards look really exciting. Here you can win some of the best packs in FIFA 19. However, even these do not necessarily guarantee profit. You can find the complete lineup in our overview of Draft rewards.
When is the Draft mode worth it? The principle is logical – those who win receive better rewards. But like most players, you will have realized: Even after four victories, you do not necessarily pull a top player who promises the big coin blessing.
This can be extremely frustrating due to the relatively high playing fee of 15,000 coins. After all, as is often the case, it depends on pack luck – because winning there is exclusively packs. The rewards are not even explicitly fixed – you can receive packs worth completely different values at the same reward level.
The Draft rewards in numbers: The FIFA site “fifauteam” has created a database showing the average Draft rewards. It quickly becomes clear: Those who play Draft to fill their coins account will likely be disappointed. The minimum profit you can make is on average almost always in the negative range.
Your minimum profit in the worst rewards scenario with zero wins is -11,200 coins and even in the best case with zero wins only -8,200 coins. A loss compared to the 15,000 coins paid is therefore very likely.
Of course, you can also be lucky and draw an absolute top player from a Gold Pack. However, the likelihood is very low. And even at the following levels, the minimum profit rate does not look good:
No guaranteed win: On average, a reliable minimum profit of 1,150 coins has only occurred after four victories.
This, of course, does not mean that you cannot make a profit even at earlier stages. However, you should not expect to come out with a big profit at the end of the Draft.
On average, according to fifauteam calculations, a minimal profit of -6,900 coins per Draft round was determined.
Losses are therefore much more likely in the Draft than a big win. Nonetheless, Draft is played a lot – but why?

Reasons players like the Draft mode: That the Draft mode is still very popular among many players has several reasons.
On the one hand, it offers the opportunity to finally play with super players for whom you do not have money in regular FUT daily life. After all, selection screens like the following are not uncommon:
Finally try out top teams: Besides standard cards of absolute top stars, you can also play with event players such as Prime-Icon-Moments Maradona or Future Star Foden. These cards are hardly affordable on the transfer market – in the Draft you can try out such players.
Players enjoy the thrill: Moreover, the excitement of assembling the team is very popular among players. The player selection is like a little short-term pack opening and promises excitement.
Additionally, there is the tournament character of the Draft mode: No other FUT mode currently offers a comparable knockout system. It is incredibly difficult to score four consecutive victories – and thus particularly appealing.
This is what the community wishes for: In the FIFA subreddit, there are lively discussions about the Draft mode. Many still enjoy playing the mode, but have wishes for improvement.
Aside from desiring better rewards, people would like:
- A guaranteed Draft token when you win four matches. With the Draft token, you can immediately play another Draft round.
- Weekly goals that yield a Draft token
- A reduction in the Draft price
- A kind of friendly Draft without rewards, which can be played for free
“We just want to play”: It becomes clear: It’s not necessarily about the rewards, even if they could be better. Players enjoy the Draft principle, which is also evident in the popularity of tools like the FUTBIN Draft Simulator.
The problem is the high price for a new Draft round – here most want a way to play for less money or by winning Draft tokens non-randomly.
