There seems to be a problem with Epitaff in Pokémon GO: Some trainers are reporting invisibility or strange developments. Niantic has now responded.
A few days ago, the new Pokémon Epitaff was introduced to the game. Since the event “Crashing Fights”, players can evolve Rasaff into Epitaff after completing its special development requirements.
If they manage to do so, they gain a very strong fighter in the PvP battle league with Epitaff. However, there currently seems to be a problem with the ghost-fighting Pokémon.
Players report issues with Epitaff – Niantic Support responds
What is the problem? Several players in the Pokémon GO community on reddit or X.com report various problems with Epitaff.
- For some, it is simply invisible (via reddit).
- For others, it is only displayed as a small, glowing energy ball.
- Others report that completely bizarre developments of Rasaff are shown instead of Epitaff, such as Rasaff being able to evolve into Nachtara (via reddit).
Overall, it seems that these are primarily visual errors, rather than gameplay issues. With one exception: some still report an issue where they cannot swap Epitaff as a buddy.
Moreover, some have noticed in the PvP battle league that Epitaff is also displayed as invisible here. While it still performs attacks, it is simply not visible.
It seems there is currently a bug with the data for Epitaff. However, not all players are affected by this.
How to resolve the problem? Niantic Support has already responded via social media to inquiries from several players.
They state: “Currently, we are receiving multiple reports regarding issues with Epitaff. If these continue to occur, players should update their game data.”
To do this, you need to proceed as follows:
- Open settings
- Select “Advanced Settings”
- Click “Update Game Data”
This is generally the classic way to resolve issues in Pokémon GO.
