Is Battlefield 6 getting a Battle Royale? Here is what is known about the return of Firestorm

For weeks before the official reveal of Battlefield 6, rumors were circulating that the shooter would be getting a Battle Royale. We summarize all the information known about it.

Will Battlefield 6 have a Battle Royale? Yes, Battlefield 6 will have a Battle Royale! At the big reveal of the multiplayer mode on July 31, 2025, the developers showed a short teaser that hinted at the Battle Royale mode Firestorm with a wall of flames.

A few hours after this short teaser video, Kevin Johnson, the global community manager of Battlefield, confirmed that there will indeed be a Battle Royale. This will soon be playable in the Battlefield Labs.

Battlefield Labs is a testing environment where players have had the opportunity to provide feedback on Battlefield 6 over the past months.

What is known about the Battle Royale? Nothing, except that the Battle Royale will soon be playable in the Battlefield Labs. However, since the teaser hinted at the return of Firestorm, perhaps taking a look into the past will provide a better impression:

• Firestorm was the Battle Royale of Battlefield V.
• In Firestorm, 64 players competed in 16 squads of up to 4 players each.
• A ring of fire enveloped the battlefield. This shrank over the course of the match.
• You could use various Battlefield vehicles like tanks.
• The map had the typical Battlefield destruction – for instance, when tanks completely demolished smaller houses.
• Classes had no impact but could still be leveled up in the Battle Royale.
• The weapons are available in various tiers. A rarer tier means the weapon has certain advantages, such as a better scope.
• You could carry 2 primary weapons and equipment such as medkits and rocket launchers.

To what extent the new Battle Royale mode will resemble the old Firestorm or whether there will be major differences is currently still unknown.
