Apple has introduced iOS 18 along with a host of new features. Included are also some private settings. However, not everyone is thrilled about it. Some are already proclaiming: “Relationships are dead.”
What feature is being discussed? The new hidden apps feature allows the user to hide the icon and name of the app on the home screen and even pause notifications. Apple explained:
Locked and hidden apps provide users with the assurance that the information they wish to keep private, such as app notifications and content, cannot be accidentally seen by others.
The online magazine NYPost now shares with other users that the “new feature of iOS 18 adds another layer of protection for those who choose to be unfaithful.”
Under iOS 18, apps can be hidden, but is that enough for “cheating”?
What can users lock? Owners of an iPhone can hide and lock almost all apps. This also includes apps that are pre-installed on their phone, such as the Mail app, Messages, Notes, Photos, and the Safari browser.
The apps can also be set to open only with Face ID. Face ID is a biometric facial recognition technology used on iPhones and iPads. This option is considered very secure.
What criticism is there? On Twitter/X, some users have already posted criticism of the new feature:
iOS 18 and new iPhones will make these types cheat… that’s crazy. Relationships are dead.
- “I just know that iOS 18 will help people cheat.”
- “iOS 18 is trying to convert hardcore Android users who cheat to iPhones.”
At first glance, however, the criticism does seem somewhat strange. Because if people truly want to cheat, they probably won’t wait for any new feature from iOS 18.
What critics may also have against iOS 18: Google is also introducing a private
