So far, The Sims has had no serious competition. However, this could change with the Korean inZOI for Steam. The game impresses with its surprisingly realistic visuals and even features a capability that brings your real objects into the game.
What kind of feature is this? In inZOI, there will be a function that is currently missing from The Sims. The game includes something like a virtual 3D printer for real objects. This way, you can bring any object into the game. The prerequisite is that you have an image of the object.
You just need to take a photo of the object or find one on the internet and upload it into the game. The AI-powered tool then converts your uploaded images into an object. And as IGN describes it, the feature seems to work remarkably well. The only condition is that the object must be clearly recognizable in the image:
With the tool, even textures can be brought into the game. This is said to work similarly to the pattern tool from The Sims 3, with which you could create your own patterns, only in a better way.
The feature emphasizes how much value inZOI places on realism. This is already evident in the character editor. For players can transfer their expressions to the created character. This way, it can show the same emotions and lip movements as you do.
How realistic inZOI looks is also evident in the following trailer:
inZOI is like The Sims 4, only more realistic
What do fans say about it? In a Reddit thread, there are many enthusiastic users who are impressed by the tool and are looking forward to it. User xXBrokenOpenXx sees analogies to Animal Crossing and believes that the game taught people to turn the least useful objects into something cool. They could now use this knowledge for inZOI.
However, there are also users who are skeptical about the whole thing. They think that it is impossible to bring all objects into the game from just one angle. They prefer a 3D printing function from 3 different angles instead.
What is inZOI? After Life by You was discontinued, inZOI is the big hope for many fans of The Sims.
- You can create your own characters with the character editor and play their lives.
- You can take on jobs to earn money and make friendships. It is also possible to find true love and get married.
- A huge, open game world awaits you. To navigate in the world, you can use the bus or your own car.
- In your free time, you can engage in various activities, such as sunbathing on the beach, trying your hand at gardening, or pursuing other hobbies.
The possibilities in inZOI seem to be diverse. Interested players were able to try out the character editor in the last demo. However, it is still unclear when inZOI will be released.
Currently, another game is also in development on Steam that could be a must for Sims fans. Paralives does not rely on realistic visuals, but is still worth a look: A game on Steam could be exactly what I’ve been wishing for as a Sims fan for years
