There is fresh news about Destiny 2! Guardians can look forward to hologram emotes and mods for the elements. Additionally, the Exotic Wardcliff Coil is coming!
The launch of Destiny 2 is only a few days away and new information about the MMO shooter is coming in daily. The latest info comes from Luke Smith, who reveals a lot of exciting details in a Q&A video by WIRED.
From Dubious Volley to Wardcliff Coil
Let’s start with the Wardcliff Coil. This is the name of an Exotic that has been known for a while and will finally appear with Destiny 2: The mysterious “Dubious Volley,” which was discovered in the databases back in the TTK era:
This rocket launcher fires a stream of “mini-rockets,” each of which is homing. It has already been seen in gameplay footage of Destiny 2. We now know that it is neither called “Dubious Volley” nor “The Microphone,” but rather Wardcliff Coil.

Elemental Mods and Hologram Gestures in Destiny 2
It was already known that energy weapons in Destiny 2 have “elemental mods” that display the corresponding elemental damage, and this was seen in the beta phases. Now there’s new info: With these mods, players can change the elemental damage of the weapons. If you equip an energy weapon or a power weapon with a different elemental mod, it will take on the new elemental damage.
This allows you to customize your weapons as desired. However, according to Smith, this is not possible with all weapons. The Exotics are locked to a specific elemental damage.
Smith also reveals one more thing: Bungie is considering whether there should be PTR, or public test realms, for Destiny 2. This could allow Guardians to test new content for bugs and issues before it is released. However, Smith prefers that Guardians be surprised by new content when it arrives. PTR takes away the excitement.
Another interesting piece of information was leaked by Inside-PlayStation: In gameplay footage on Nessus, a Guardian activated an emote – a hologram emote. It shows that the Guardian is flipping out, and a hologram table appears with some items on it, which the Guardian then knocks over. You should check it out:
Such hologram emotes open up endless new possibilities for emotes. What is to come will be shown in the future.
