Place 1: Black Desert
Even though Black Desert can never keep me for long due to its various peculiarities (three examples: shop, grind, random factor in progression), I always gladly return to the MMORPG from Black Desert, simply because the brutal action fights feel incredibly powerful, responsive, and good. Like in Tera, just a notch better.

It’s simply fun to send masses of opponents to the great beyond with the wonderfully staged strike and magic combinations. So much fun that at least for a while, the tedious monster grind doesn’t bother me at all. Quite the contrary: Where are the next victims?! This is pure power fantasy!
It seems to make no difference which of the now 28 classes you choose. The six or seven specializations I have tried so far were all “S Tier” in terms of pure combat experience.
I have never experienced such quality across all play styles in any other MMORPG. Therefore, Black Desert must land at number 1 in my personal power ranking. If you’re wondering: Would it be worth starting the game now? Here’s the answer: Is Black Desert worth it in 2024?
