Wargaming, the creators of World of Tanks, are planning a new game called Caliber. It is set to be a tactical shooter that emphasizes teamwork and planning. This makes it particularly interesting for older players.
What is Caliber? Wargaming is mainly known for its tank epic World of Tanks. However, the Belarusians are currently planning, together with 1C Game Studios, the next military game: the shooter Caliber.
This time it is not about heavy tanks, warships, or airplanes. Instead, you will be operating as a member of a military special unit, fighting in PvE and PvP.
What makes Caliber special? As a major unique selling point, Caliber aims to focus on tactical combat and teamwork. It should not be the player with the best reflexes who wins, but rather the team that proceeds thoughtfully and tactically. Four players should act together as a team.
This also involves making optimal use of the chosen class. The options are to be Assault Soldier, Support, Medic, and Sniper. Caliber fully embraces realism, featuring authentic weapons and uniforms from real special units, such as the German KSK, the US Navy SEALs, or the Polish GROM.
Through the focus on teamwork and less on quick reflexes, as well as the serious, realistic look, Caliber aims to attract primarily older shooter fans who are less interested in fast, frantic action like in Fortnite or Call of Duty.
Caliber will be available for free as a free-to-play game for PC. After extensive testing in Russia, you can try it out for the first time at Gamescom 2019 starting August 20, 2019.
